Elis Regina gave voice to the music Brazil was becoming. Ella Fitzgerald gave lasting form to the standards that became jazz’s shared language. They did more than interpret great songs, they helped reveal, define and carry their respective songbooks forward.
Brazil at Jazz imagines those legacies sharing a stage. In our arrangements, the songs do more than coexist. Placed in relation to one another, they change how we hear each of them and create a new narrative.
